This is What it Feels Like: Life Re-imagined

February 6 - March 21, 2026 | Opening Reception February 6, 2026, 5 pm - 7 pm

As a Cincinnati area transplant, Parrish Monk lives in Sanford, Florida, with his wife, Sharahn, and Kadin, the youngest of his three adult sons. Parrish is the owner of Parrish Monk Arts, Monk Made Consulting LLC., and ManHandled Jewelry, as well as an Army veteran, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., a philanthropist, and an avid fisherman. While Parrish's feet walk securely on different paths daily, his singular focus is always on working to promote the well-being of others.

Parrish has been an accomplished working artist, artisan, and creative entrepreneur since November 2011 and an adult educator and community servant since 1998. Dr. Parrish Monk is also currently a full-time instructor in Western Governors University's School of Business-HR programs.

Whether as a creative, entrepreneur, or adult educator, Parrish works to help others achieve success through equitable access to needed resources, opportunities, and a quality education. As a father and guardian of a son on the Autism spectrum, his service efforts are deeply personal to Parrish.

As a creative, Parrish's practice uses mixed media to investigate issues of social justice, cultural identity, and collective memory. By weaving together everyday materials, he tells stories often overlooked or erased. His engaging art often asks questions rather than offering answers, creating space for discomfort, reflection, and dialogue. Each work is a subtle form of protest, rooted in love and care. Much of Parrish's artwork can be seen online or in person at Gallery of First in downtown Sanford, Florida and at the Lake County Museum of Art from February 6 through March 21, 2026.
