The Lake County Museum of Art is thrilled to host the "Encaustic Realms: A Florida Wax Exhibition." Encaustic is an ancient painting process using molten beeswax, damar resin, and pigments. The Egyptians and Greeks historically used this medium to paint murals, funeral portraits, and ships. Nowadays, encaustic is utilized in a more modern way, encompassing paintings, photography, sculpture, and mixed media.
The opening reception on Friday, July 12th will showcase various artists and feature encaustic demonstrations, providing an up-close look at this captivating art form. Guests will also be served snacks and beverages during the event.
